Towards the Theatre of Unknown: Actors in Search of Characters on the Psychic Stage

Mr. Vahdat Yeganeh

(Mr. Vahdat Yeganeh)

In these workshops, participants will examine the relationship between the actors and the characters through the plays of Anton Chekhov, Samuel Beckett, and Will Eno. Different relationships between artists and spectators and the concept of the author as performer/spectator will be discussed. Emphasis will be placed on the influences of foundational theatrical giants: Antonin Artaud, Bertolt Brecht, Jerzy Grotowski, and Peter Brook. These workshops aim to explore the historical antecedents of the modern interactive art forms that psychoanalytic studies and practices have strongly inspired. In all our discussions and workshops, psychoanalytic readings and interpretations are encouraged.
