This eight-week clinical webinar continues the last semester’s Continuous Case Seminar. Our primary goal is to provide students with a comparative understanding of the theoretical issues of concern to Bion, Lacan, and Winnicott. We are particularly interested in exploring these three theorists’ similarities and differences. We will also discuss psychoanalytic theories of therapeutic action and how theories from different schools inform psychoanalytic techniques. Special consideration will be given to how theory informs our analytic listening and intervening and how analysts explicitly and implicitly use psychoanalytic theories to understand the patient’s dynamics. As in the previous semester’s seminar, our primary focus is to improve your clinical psychoanalytic skill through ongoing case presentations with the aid of process notes.
